The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) has ended up the Six-months strike with effect from Thu, 26th Sep 2013, which has badly affected the processing of visa applications at CIO Office and Canadian Embassies abroad including Chandigarh and New Delhi High Commission. The Canadian Government has partially agreed to the terms laid out by the PAFSO related to their wages. Foreign Service Officers are responsible for all types of Visas & Permits processing including Study Visas/Permit, Work Visas/Permit, Visitor Visas, other TR & PR Visas & related service.

Due to this six months long strike many foreign students & workers were affected. Now the PAFSO is focusing on reducing the backlog cases pending due to this strike, the processing of all applications will begin normally at all Canadian Embassies from now onwards, as all the Foreign Services Workers have resume their duties back.

In India, SPP visa processing was badly affected & most of the applications were processed by the backup team in 4-6 weeks instead of 2 weeks normal process under SPP. Many applications were rejected as there was no time left to verify all the documents in time for Fall 2013 intake.
